08-Mar Tucson to Sonoita

First ride with PAC.  We started early only to discover we weren't actually the slowest riders on the road.  A tough ride, mostly uphill into a stiff headwind almost all the way.  As we approached Sonoita the winds were so strong that a 3% downhill required pedalling to achieve a stunning 15mph.  If this were a real PAC week, we'd have had another 40 miles to go to get to Sierra Vista--eeks.

47.4 miles with 3178' of climbing

Dinner was provided to us via carryout from a new Italian restaurant (Viaggio Italiano).  Like any of the better restaurants in town, they were closed for the evening, but as we were checking the hours, the chef came out and offered us carryout.  Given that the only restaurant that was open was The Steakhouse (sounds really great for two vegetarians, eh?) we took her up on the offer of a gluten free lasagna dinner that used eggplant for the noodles.  The food was fantastic (and not just because we'd rode uphill into the wind all day).  A complete meal that really hit the spot rounded out with a bottle of the local Dos Cabazas wine.  Only the meal at the restaurant could have been better.
