Final day and probably the worst weather of the trip. But, the ride was short so we all hit the rode by bikes. It was actively raining for the first half of the ride and colder than the day before. A head wind rounded it out.
But, we were back in horse country with the grand sweeping lawns, picket and stone fences, opulent gates and estate houses. Alas, it ended with a city ride back into Lexington and a reminder that all automobile drivers are no like the polite drivers in the countryside surrounding Lexington. Barely back into the city limits and we were honked and buzzed by a pickup. But, I'll choose to forget that driver and remember the drivers who saw us, waited the 5-10 seconds for the road to clear before passing and then passed by giving us enough room. Thank you! I've never felt safer being a slow moving vehicle.
As the trip seemed to be centered on weather, it should be noted that after saying good-byes, eating lunch and packing up the bikes, the sun did come back out. Why is it I can still hear Mother Nature giggling?
