Rolling into town around noon, we head off down the fireroad to Glendalough National Park.
"Red Trail" walk. Clear day with great views of the Glenealo Valley on the way out and deep dark forest on the return.
Took a cab 10 miles down the road and returned on the St Kevin's long-distance path.
Low clouds accompany the walk along the Glenealo Valley. Return via the Wicklow Way instead of the logging road.
Climb up Mangerton Mountain (yes, 800m is called a mountain). We misjudged the distance from hotel to trail head so we only got as far as the Devil's Punch Bowl, a glacier lake at 700m before turning back.
Low-level walk around Muckross Lake (aka Middle Lake) in Killarney National Park.
Carol and Dennis stop their isolationist habits and join the group for a walk through the Gap of Donloe
Hands-in-pocket walk to the top of Torc Mountain. Sleeper track and stepping stones with generous switchbacks mean no water, no muck and not much effort. Views were worth it.
Listed in some sources as a folly, we stopped never-the-less. Took in the castle and searched without success for a hill fort, a hill fort not mentioned anywhere other than the map for Dysert O'Dea.
Short walk along Burren Way with a visit to the Cliffs of Moher
An obsession with filling in meanings for international signage.
